Prison Labor & Organizing: What will it take for us to be free?

September 17, 2018 @ 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

$40

“Join CCI and scholar John Donner for a webinar that takes a deeper look at laws governing the working class– more specifically, convicts, prisoners, and ex-prisoners– and how they’ve stopped the labor movement from becoming a vehicle for uniting all groups of workers as one strata.

This webinar will use John’s experience with incarceration, and his research on prison slave labor and prison organizing to analyze the complexes oppressing the working class. John will explore the role that legislation plays in dividing the workforce into competing groups, and how strata organizing can be used to overcome this– with a focus on how prisoners, detainees, and those sentenced to community service make up a subgroup of workers excluded from the government sanctioned right to organize.

The deadline to register for this event is September 14th. Tickets will be $40, and the registration form can be found at bit.ly/befreewebinar.” -Community Change Inc
